The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwestern Los Angeles County in Southern California. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by the Spanish government (The Conejo Valley name was due to it's large population of rabbit, conejo means "rabbit" in Spanish). The Santa Clara River Valley is due north.
Many high-tech companies, particularly those in biotechnology, including Amgen and Baxter, are prevalent in the area.
